Welcome to Capture GO support. If your question is not answered below, write to engin@yazilan.org — please include your device model and iOS version.
What is the goal of the game? You win by capturing the opponent’s stones. Before a game starts you choose the goal: one capture, three, or five. At one capture the very first stone taken ends the game, which is what makes it a good way to learn. This is the “capture game”, also called Atari Go — a teaching variant of Go that skips territory scoring entirely.
How do I capture a stone? Surround it on every side along the lines of the board — not diagonally. When a stone has no empty point left next to it, it is captured and comes off the board. Those empty neighbouring points are called liberties, and putting a stone down to one last liberty is called atari.
Do I need an internet connection? No. The AI opponent runs entirely on your iPhone, so the whole game works offline, including in airplane mode. No account is required to play.
Is online play available? Not at the moment. Online multiplayer is switched off: there were too few players for matchmaking to reliably find you an opponent. Everything else in the app is unaffected.
Is the game free? Yes. You can play against the AI for free, and life stones refill on their own over time. There are optional boosts and cosmetic items in the shop, but nothing in the game is locked behind them.
When does a life stone get used? Only when you lose an AI game. Wins, draws and Practice games cost nothing, and your first few games are free while the difficulty settles to your level. Stones refill automatically.
How do I collect Shapes? Shapes are patterns formed by stones on the board. When a recognised shape appears during one of your games it is added to your Collection album automatically.
Can I use the app with VoiceOver? Yes. Every control has a VoiceOver label, the app supports Dynamic Type through the accessibility text sizes, and it respects Reduce Motion.
Which languages does it support? English, German, French, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Turkish and Simplified Chinese.
I bought coins or a pass and did not receive it. Purchases are restored from your Apple ID. Try Shop → Restore Purchases first. If that does not work, email engin@yazilan.org with the date of purchase and we will sort it out.
How do I delete my data? Email engin@yazilan.org from the address linked to your account, or see the Privacy Policy.
